Quality Assurance Laboratory Specialist

As a member of the Quality Assurance team, you will be responsible for the evaluation of the private label products and for maintaining the integrity of ShopRite brand items and other ingredients.  The Lab Specialist will maintain focus on the nutrition as part of product evaluation.  Your responsibilites include the management of an internal vendor database system; overseeing vendor compliance to labeling regulations in relation to NJLEA, FPLA, FDA and USDA requirements while providing technical support to the product divisions and Membershp. 

The Laboratory Specialist will oversee vendor inspections using GMP, HAACP, food safetyu and food security protocal, as well as monitor vendor compliance to product and packaging standards.  Serving as a company representative at internal and external functions, you will conduct product demonstrations comparing private label quality attributes to national brands, in-house, at store level, trade shows, and community events.

To be considered a candidate, you must meet the minimum requirements of the job posting:

  • Master's degree in Food Science or currently enrolled in a Masters degree Food Service program.
  • Food industry experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition.
  • Knowledge of USDA standards, HAACP and Food Safety principals.
  • Experience in organoleptic sampling.
  • Ability to read lab reports and interpret Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Knowledge of product chemistry
  • Exceptional leadership skills as demonstrated by previous experience.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.  Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management and vendor representatives.
  • Strong knowledge of Lotus Notes, Microsoft WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT
  • Solid math skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

Jr. Accountants - Cash Management and Member Services

The positions in Cash Management Accounting are responsible for preparation, analysis, and reconciliation, of bank accounts, analysis of bank statements, schedule and balance sheet accounts.  In addition the Jr. Accountants will prepare all cash related journal entries and cash schedules. Additionally, the Jr. Accountant will assist with the manual audit of financial statements and will act as coverage for peers within the department.

The positions in Member Services Accounting are responsible for processing retail expense and merchandise payments, as well as reviewing weekly statements and performing reclassifications.  In addition, the Jr. Accounting will process expense reports, prepare accurals, and general ledger schedules, and act as coverage for other peers within the department

Qualified candidates are detailed oriented and must possess:

  • Four year college degree with concentration in accounting, business administration, or Finance.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting theory.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills.
  • Strong PC (EXCEL) skills.
  • Strong detail orientated skills.

Bakery Merchandiser

As a member of the In-store Bakery team, this position will be responsible for consulting with our ShopRite Members, store management and retail staff with regard to the operations and recommended methods of baking and merchandising of our In-Store Bakery Departments.  The person in this position will also be charged with the implementation and successful execution of all resets, remodels, new store setups and openings.  Additionally, they will counsel our stores with regard to departmental sales, gross profit, shrink, product quality, training and customer service. 

To be considered, applicants must meet minimum requirements of the position:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, four year college degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years retail bakery management or supervisory experience in supermarket bakery operations and merchandising with an emphasis on technical training and the preparation of action plans to improve business results.
  • Strong technical, analytical, leadership, customer service and P.C. skills as demonstrated by previous work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, bilingual preferred.
  • The ability to display and teach Customer Service Excellence at store level. 
  • Understanding of baking methodologies, including formulation of recipes.
  • Extensive production equipment knowledge and department design skills.
  • Knowledge of retail store operations related to sales, gross profit, labor requirements and retail merchandising. 
  • Flexibility with regard to travel (overnight stays required).
