New York Jets Devise Game Plan To Help Tackle Hunger 

 

ShopRite, Kraft, Clorox and Acosta Host Fourth Annual New York Jets Taste of the NFL Benefit to Support ShopRite Partners In Caring

 

New York, NY (May 2006) – Football takes a sound game plan and plenty of teamwork to win and beating hunger is no different!  Join the New York Jets for the Fourth Annual New York Jets Taste of the NFL Benefit to help tackle hunger in your community.  Tickets are now on sale for the star-studded culinary affair, offering a unique dining experience where fans can enjoy food from some of New York’s finest five-star restaurants while also rubbing elbows with New York Jets’ stars including Erik Coleman and Mike Nugent.     

This remarkable evening of food, wine, and football will be presented by the New York Jets in conjunction with ShopRite, Kraft, Clorox and Acosta Sales and Marketing Company on Thursday, May 11, 2006 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Bridgewaters at the South Street Seaport, 11 Fulton Street, New York, NY. Tickets are available for $250 each, with all proceeds benefiting the ShopRite Partners In Caring Fund, a year-round community based program that fights hunger in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.  Additionally, limited quantities of VIP tickets are available for $400.  These tickets provide early admission, special access to Jets players, VIP gift bag, and an extra hour of food sampling beginning at 6 p.m.  A portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible.

The Fourth Annual New York Jets Taste of the NFL Benefit is a five-star culinary event that offers a unique dining experience by the renowned chefs from some of New York’s premier restaurants, including NOBU and Blue Smoke.  The event is set up in a “taste-around,” style, where guests will be invited to sample signature dishes of each participating restaurant, while mingling with New York Jets’ past and present football stars.  In addition to the gridiron superstars and gourmet food, party attendees will have the opportunity to bid on unique silent auction items, including autographed merchandise from Jets’ players, sports memorabilia, jewelry and restaurant/entertainment packages.

Hunger continues to be an increasingly serious problem in the United States, with the number of people hungry, or at risk of hunger, growing to 36.3 million people, of which 13.3 are children. (U.S. Department of Agriculture, 2004)
